Mash Image Plates

Calling all nail stampers! I have a surprise for you!

Have you ever heard of Mash Stamp Plates? Neither had I until one day I was window shopping on Amazon and typed in Nail Plates and my search returned a few new products. The one that caught my eye was named Mash Stamping Plates. So I click on it and low and behold I am staring at konad dupes. No, for real. I was amazed. Here before me was 25 image plates that were near identical to Konad. For only $9.99. I went to add them to my cart and alas, they were sold out. So for the better part of 2 months I have been checking a few times a week for them to come back. And they are in stock! Now I am assuming they will not be as perfect as the Konad brand, but they are close enough that I will finally be able to try out some of the manis I have been drooling over.

Lets do some math:

Plates that are exact dupes. M20 M21 M22 M25 M26 M27 M28 M44 M45 M56 M57 M60 M61 M62 M63 M64 M72 M73 M78 M80  (total of 20)

So that leave 5 very cute plates, with images I have seen before, but just can't place. And yes, i really did go threw every plate and compare them.

So 20 Konad Plates from Konad Nail Art which is the cheapest supplier of all plates I have found at $6.50 a plats would come to a total of..... $130.  Now this site runs a permanent discount of 10% off orders over $100 so our new subtotal is now...$117. and the Cheap shipping in the US is 6.20 so grand total of... $123.20

123 Dollars! Seriously?

Or I can get near exact copies of the 20 Konad plates for...$9.99 plus $4.95 Shipping. Grand total. $15

I know which one I am going for. (I would much rather take the surplus and go over and spend it on some Nfu Oh)

Now I know we are all eagerly awaiting the New bundle Monster Plates, but please do your self a favor and go grab these. Even if you have a few of the included plates from Konad, still grab these and use the dupes for a give away. You will not be sorry.

Now a small note: If you go on Amazon and search image plates like I did, you may come across a set from SHANY. Please BACK AWAY. This set is nothing but the 21piece bundle monster with 4 extra plates for nearly $40 versus the $18 of the 21piece Bundle Monster. I went threw each image as best I could as they posted blury images and was able to match each of the Bundle monster plates.

There is also another set by the name of FASH

These seem to be the missing Konad Plates from the Mash set, but with the images mixed up, as in one image from plate A is now next to an image from plate Q.

I will be getting this set, after I get the new Bundle Monster Set, so I will of course share my review.

I can't wait for my MASH Set to get here! I promise a thorough and detailed review and most likely a video as well!

Thats All For Now,
Peace

A warning about Sally's...

Now in an earlier post Rushing Finger Paints I told y'all how my local Sally's had filled a seasonal collection display with colors from the core line. I picked up two colors and in my haste did not read the label, which is my fault, but at the same time, one should be able to go into a "trusted" beauty supply store such as Sally's and have some measure of trust that if you pick up a polish off a display (and the display was full with many bottles of the same colors) you can trust that polish was from the said collection. Well I am sorry that this is just not true in any way. I have been in customer service my entire working life, so poor or misleading customer service really gets under my skin. I called the store I purchased these colors from and spoke with the assistant manager to ind out if this was intentional or just an accident. I was informed that they were directed to restock the limited collection displays with with core colors by the Home Office. Skeptical I went online and got the number for the head office and called and asked the same questions. After a decent wait I was told the same thing, they did inform their stores to restock the core colors when the seasonal collections run out. I believe that this is a terrible and misleading practice  I know I hold fault in this, I should have taken a moment and read the labels carefully. So my warning to all is to be extremely careful and even if you think you are in a rush, read your labels at Sally s, otherwise you might risk buying a "seasonal color" you already own.

That's all for now
Peace

Rushing Finger Paints

This is going to such as long post (to make up for the week away) So forewarning!

Now first let me start of saying I am extremely upset with Sally's (and myself.) My Mother-in-Law and I dropped in to Sally's since I was out of Acetone and desperation was setting in with the need to redo my nails. Well at my Sally's they are having a B2G1 free sale on all polish. Yay! So my MIL picked out a boring (but lovely and perfect for her pale pink) and I came across the display for the Finger Paints flower collection! So I grabbed a lovely orange and green. We were in a bit of a rush so I didn't catch that the freaking sales people were sneaks and filled their empty display from that collection with other "similar" colors from Finger Paints!!! GAH. Seriously? You got to be kidding me! Of course its my own darn fault. Now I am seriously annoyed but it was not such a total loss. I may love showing the recent polishes for all of you, but I never buy a polish that I don't love....well i don't pay full price any way. I have passed over entire collections before since they didn't speak to me. So even though the polishes were not what I thought they were, I still love the colors.

Which brings me not my next topic. I look at polish, and the colors I choose to wear with a bit of different eye than many people. I have only one color I never wear unless its an accent color. Red. Gads how I hate red. I am a natural red head with pale skin and for some reason the people in charge of dressing me as a small girl were convinced that dressing me in RED was a good idea. (they made me sing " at family gatherings!) So needless to say, I detest red. Okay getting back on track...

So sometimes the colors I choose to wear may not be "perfect" for my skin tone. But as long as its not RED (shudder) and I love the color, I say who cares. I have never been one to follow trends for the sake of trends. My toes are always painted in neons, regardless what season it is outside. So Finger Paints Tangerine Tint is just perfect for me.

I am CRAZY about this color! not only was the formula and application were simply amazing! Now this is my first experience with Finger Paints and I know I will be returning for more. The brush was on the thin side, but workable. One thing that really surprised me was the smell, or the lack of one. I did not sense any of the off putting smells that nearly all polish have a least a touch of. A total plus! Makes me happy any way since I know that once I have more colors from Finger Paints that this will be one of the brands I reach for if I need to do a quick mani and my kiddo is running around. My photos do not do it justice, the color is a bit brighter, but I have no sun atm, I I had to do my best. The color is also brighter than the bottle color, so keep that in mind if you pick this up and the bottle is too bright for you.

Now or this mani, I had Tangerine Tint (duh) stamped with a cute love eyes from my new Essence Stampy Plates (fresh from Europe thanks to a friend, show and tell post to arrive shortly) This is a simple mani, but the effect is dual. Up close the effect of the skulls is easily seen, (are those love eyed skulls cute or what?) but step back a bit and the effect morphs into a very interesting lace like feature. Just don't stand to close to Grandma and she will love these lol.

So all in all....I am  super happy with the colors and the mani, even  if the colors were a surprise. And please forgive the mess, and the green tint around my middle finger, it was stained by another polish removal.

Well I am going to stop my rambles now,

Thats all for now,
Peace

Egyptian Stampy Frankening

So its Sunday and as I mentioned in an earlier post we have a few friends over every Sunday to play nerdy games ect. Well my friend Asia and my friend Skittles wanted to see some of the polish I brought back from my trip. Lol, It was Skittles first time seeing my collection, Her eyes got bigger and bigger as I first brought out th Tupperware container of the polish I took, then the first add box I captured for more storage and her jaw dropped when Penguin brought out the main case of polish. Ahh how I love the utter shock I see when people discover my stash. Any way. I did a mani on Skittles with a creme black with some flackies with a matte top coat, nothing special. I mainly did it so she would become more aware of her nails and stop biting them. She laughed and said she now has a goal and reason to stop biting after she looked through my stamping plates. Confused i asked why and she said, she wanted her nails to grow so she could get a red/black mani with the sun stamp. Well I know Asia, and I started putting away the easter colors we were planing on using for her mani and got some reds and blacks out. Thing was, Skittle had no idea what she meant by red/black mani. And suddenly I went into zen mode and got a dish out to start mixing some color up. I added some black and few reds and a silver to highlight and ended up with the rich blackened red that we all ohhhed and ahhhed over. I used a white for the sun on the ring finger and added some beetles on the thumbs. I commented it was kinda Egyptian to Asia and she said "Yhea kinda, it really would be if it was gold..." And that sent me on another blending frenzy, mixing a copper, shimmer yellow and bright creme yellow to come up with a dark bronzed/.gold color I used for the rest of the stamping. OMG! We are so in love with it! Sorry for the sloppy painting, but I was running out of the color I mixed lol. Hope I can recreate it! and since I painted this mani at 10pm, there was no sun where we live. Well hope you love this as much as we do!

E'nuff blabbering, heres the pic!

Thats all for now,
Peace,
Lady M

For all of the China Glaze junkies out there, this little number landed in my inbox today, so I figured I would share it with yall.

OLD HOLLYWOOD FASHION AND MANICURES DAZZLE L.A.

China Glaze Manicures Backstage At The Sue Wong Fashion Show

Los Angeles, CA – (April 2011): “My Fair Lady” was the theme of Sue Wong’s Fall 2011 show that took place at her private residence in Los Angeles, CA. Paying homage to the Edwardian styling of the film and the overall theme of transformation, Sue Wong decided that China Glaze was the most fashion forward polish to compliment her collection that was filled with ornate gowns, rich satins, flowing chiffons and fine laces.

To accentuate the delicate appliqué and intricate embroidery seen on the dresses of her Fall 2011 collection, Sue herself decided that China Glaze Drastic (a dark, brick red) and China Rouge (a rich, creamy red) would fit the mood she was looking to set. All manicures were then topped off Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat for a high gloss shine. Celebrity manicurist Melissa Bozant and her assistants worked quickly to get the manicures done just in the time for the show to start!

NOTD: Stars Stampy

As you know I am on vacation visiting family. I have had a few little polish hauls, (picked something up for the next giveaway!) So I needed to work with what I had. I am so mad at my cuticals, the change in location has messed my cuticals up so bad, they are cracked and peeling, I just keep my hand moisturized enough GAH!!!! So sorry for that. This is the creme blue from the OPI Shriek collection, I have it in a mini size and am to lazy to look it up atm, with Konad Special Yellow on a BM stamp with a generic white on the thumbs. I used a flakie on the ring along with a star decal to help it pop.

Don't forget to Enter the giveaway here!

NOTD: Spring Time

I love spring time. I love Fall more, but Spring is a close second. I was messing around in my polish case, and looking threw my blog roll when this mani came to me. I am very interested in the new Mod Collection from Zoya, but I haven't committed to buy them..yet. I don't really know why I am hesitating, Out side of the color purple as a whole, the three shades of the Mod Collection are some of my favorite shades. I alway say I like my colors to scream the color they are. Any way, I have 2 polishes in my collection that seem to be very close to the pink and the blue from Zoya, so I gave them a whorl. Sally Hansen's Calypso Blue and Back to the Fuchsia. Both from the complete salon line. With a matte cote over them they appear very close to the Zoya, but alas, I don't have them, so I can't really compare. Wow, I am rambling. Any way. I came up with this.

Please forgive my cuticals, I have been swatching like crazy when we have sun. I really want to have some photo's in reserve so to speak to help make blogging a bit easier when I am on vacation. I think this was after 5 or 6 swatches, so they are looking a bit rough. Any way. The pink is Back to the Fuchsia in 2 coats. The blue is Calypso Blue. The green is Irish Green from Sinfull Colors (I posted about it here) The tip patters is a BM plate. A nail art decal flower for a final touch. Tops the entire nail with China Glaze Matte Magic. Hope you enjoy!

Thats all for now,
Peace

Zoya Starla Review

As some of you may remember Zoya had an amazing offer not to long ago for 3 free nail polishes to celebrate the rise in followers on facebook. I am actuallynew to the Zoya brand, and this was a great way for me to try them out with little risk as well as take care of a few minor lemmings. One of the polishes I chose was this funky pink by the name of Starla. I was so suprised by this shade. It was not what I expected at all. It was so much MORE. I must have been blind but I never noticed the micro shimmer in it on the blog swatches or on the web site to order. I started to laugh so hard when i recived these, as I tried to pick colors that were not glittery or shimmery, as that seems to be all I wear, and 2 of the 3 were. Back to Starla, one of the best features of this shade is the fact its sheer enough to layer, I have done some really neat things with blues and greens with this as a layer, but thats another post hmmm. It also builds wonderfull. These photo's are all three coat, but they are thin. It formula was smooth and even. It may be on the thin side or some, but its easy to get used to. I think this had to be the perfect color to really introduce me into the world of Zoya, I know I am going back for more. Starla is a great addtion to anny collection.

Thats all for now,

Over Haul on Intense Color

You know those people who's house always has a different layout every time you go over to see them?
Thats me. Except. I live in a small apartment that pretty much only allows for one layout. It bothers me.
SO I decided to do a overhaul on the blog. I really like the IDEA of a three column lay out, but I kept feeling like it was crowded. To be fair I gave the last lay-out like 4 months and I still pretty much hated it. But I have spent the day playing with the template designer and I am completely psyched over what I have come up with! As in COMPLETE love. Don't get me wrong, I will always be tweaking it, but thats just me. I also love the way the blog is not do dark anymore. I like dark colors, I dress in Black mostly and add pops of neon color most of the time. The blog was just to dark, and to me, hard on the eyes. So I changed it. Mwa hahaha. I love the new font as well. Funky while still easy to read.

I would love to hear what you have to say!
What do you like about the new lay out?
What do you hate?
Any suggestions?

Well thats all for now,
Peace,
Lady M

Sinful Colors: Irish Green and Green Ocean

I am ashamed. St. Patty's Day has come and gone and I did not post a mani or even a review. I am Irish! I can even speak Irish! Well..... not well, but enough. I picked up two polishes in early March that I have been meaning to post  a review of, but I never got around to it. So here they are...2 days late.

First up we are going to discuss Irish Green. This is a soft green jelly. Before we get to the pics I want to take a moment and say that the formula, is..so so. Okay more on that in a moment, now the pics.

Can you see how uneven the color is? My index finger and middle finger have a light one coat base of a sheer white to help   it pop. Didn't do much good. I prefer the look of this with out the base of white, but when in side the color resembles a dirty clover. Interesting color to say the least. But when you are outside....WOW! the dirty clover turns into a bright Kelly Green. The slight streaking I saw, on the fingers without the base coat, completely vanishes. I love the way this polish looks when I was outside.

Now the next polish I have here for you is names Green Ocean. Now this is one of my new favorites. This a small green glitter. THAT HAS FLAKIES! The glitter reflects from silver to green or dark blue. The formula is rather thick and goopey on the brush, but when applied to the nail it seems to melt for a lack of a better word and makes the polish rather easy to spread. As with nearly all glitters it is rather rough with out a nice topcoat. So in all I love each of the polishes even with the fussiness of the Irish Green jelly.

Well I hope you for give my horridness of not posting this before St. Patties Day.

Well Thats All For Now,
Peace,
Lady M

A look into my stash

Every polished obsessed person eventually runs into a problem. What polishes do I acutally own? How do I store them? Well I am at that point. So I dug out my main polish case and the plastic bin I store them in and rounded up the strays scattered through out the house and dumped them all on my kitchen table.

All sorts of a mess. With the help of Penguin (thats his but in the picture) I sorted them all out into brands. He was such a good sport even though he told me it made him feel "funny" playing with nail polish. *snort* Yes because touching the bottles makes you less a man. MMMKAY.

Any how...the end result was...

I discovered I have 127 polishes (and for those who count there are 126 in the picture, one was camera shy)
I also dicovered I bought the a blue polish from Nicole by Opi in both matte and regular finish...I don't belive I ever wire either lol. I also discovered I have an very old bottle from Sinfull Colors, it does not even match the bottle design of the recent stuff in any way lol.

Still have no idea how to store them, and I need to find a way cause my Booger Booger has broken 8 bottles in the past few months. Any ideas?

Well I hope you liked the peek at my collection

Thats all for now,
Peace.

China Glaze Fault Line Swatchs

Now here is one polish I was so excited for, China Glaze Fault Line. Me? Love a PURPLE crackle coat? nawwwwww.......

Now I want to say a few things before I post the photos. After having these for a bit, and playing with them, I must say they feel, thin. A nuber of times it has reminded me of water paints that have been wet down just a bit to much. BUT some how it makes the polish so much easier to work with compared to the OPI Shatter. You have more time with them it seems I  love these polishes and I know all of us are going to have a blast learning the ins and outs of this. Some like big cracks, some like tiny ect.

Now on to the pictures.

I hope you enjoy!

Thats all for now folks,
Peace,

China Glaze Cracked Concrete

Okay fist in my review and sample mani of the China Glaze's contender for the crackle polish this season is called Cracked Concrete. Now the color at first glance in the bottle is a odd grey, murky almost. After having it for a few days, I have grown fond of the color and it does in fact look darn close to concrete in the sunlight. As for formula, well its a crackle coat polish, so it has problems from the first go, but it is much better than OPI's Shatter in my opinion. The Shatter seems to harden instantly around the threads of the bottle and along the neck of the brush, the China Glaze just gets a bit...goopey. And it also does not harden to the point you almost need pliers to open the bottle after a few days in storage like my bottle of Shatter did. I didn't know to wipe the threads down before storage the first time I used it, and its not like I messy or anything ya know.

Well enough chatter, Now for some pics.

Now these were taken in full sunlight and I personally love them. I had a French inspired outfit to wear out on Sunday and this is the look I came up to match. The pink in OPI's Flower to Flower from last years spring collection. I used the first clear coat I grabbed from my pile of clear coats so I can't tell you what that one is. Once my package comes in I am going to do this mani again and top it with some konad, Pics will be posted Promise. One thing I love about this is the fact it is much easier to work with than shatter, You have a bit more leeway before it begins to crack, so if you coincidently brush a bit over an area you already covered, you don't screw up the mani, word to the wise, have a good bit of polish on the brush, too little and it looks thin and watery, to much looks thick and plastic. (middle finger in the pics folks)

Bottom Line: IS CRACKED CONCRETE WORTH IT? In a word....maybe. It does crack something pretty. but you need to have some creativity to come up with useful colors to pair it with. If you are not brave, go with on of the other colors in the selection, collectors and those brave for color, (like me) get a bottle now

Thats it for now folks,
Peace,

Opi Shatter "Splatter Paint Crackle"

Now I know Opi's Shatter coat has been around for a month or so now, but I wanted to wait to do a review. When I went to get my bottle, I had to go to my local ulta before it was open, and ended up standing in line with 20 other women and had a mad dash to get a bottle, it was like Black Friday, sooo odd....

And how, first I like the Shatter Coat, I have been wait for about 10 months or so for a crackle coat to come on the market that I did not have to send away for. The one thing I hate about it is the fact the bottle nearly cements itself shut if you do not wipe the neck down before closing the bottle.

And way this is more about on of the manis I came up with than about the shatter its self.

I call is Splatter Paint Crackle

Epic win right?

You can follow My You Tube Video for a visual how to, or in laymans terms, stipple your nails with high contrast colors and smear shatter over it. VaVAVoooom! You have Paint Splatter nails.

Tomorrow we start our review and sample manis of the China Glaze Crackle line (I got ALLLL of them!!! we except the black, sorry have a black crackle polish, don't need more lol.

Thats all for now,

Where in the world have I been?

I know...I have been awol.

Sorry.

With the combo of life getting to me and the fact I just could not take trying to take pictures and capture video with my web cam anymore, I have just flat out been busy. Oh and the fact my nails need some time to regrow after the chaos of the holiday season. I have this issue, I hate my hands being dirty, I wash my hands like a dozen times a day. Come from a life in food service. Whats even worse, I cook with my hands. I do not understand mixing a meatloaf with a spoon, I just have to use my hands. And I cook ALOT for the holidays. So yes damage was done. My nails and I are still in recovery lol.

But, I am treating my self to a new real camera this weekend, so I will be back in full force. Oh I have some doozies saved up for you. I have OPI's Shatter, The three polishes I received from Zoya from their promotion on FB. A review of a special Konad set. AND..........a give away may be in store.

Thats all for now,
Peace
